Suggestions for Reviewing Algebra

If your algebra is rusty, I recommend that you begin reviewing it as early as possible. To aid in this review, I've put together a few recommended resources and suggestions of what to study.

First, you should visit and peruse the webpage for UConn's intermediate algebra course (Math 1011Q):
http://www.math.uconn.edu/ClassHomePages/Math1011/math1011s13/.
This page has some useful links like "Coping with Math anxiety", "Student Handouts -- take with you for your next Q course", and links to several "Online Helpful Websites".

Next, you should study the Review of Algebra that goes along with Stewart's Calculus textbook

If you prefer reading a physical book, I have also put a much larger PreCalculus textbook on reserve in the library. Its first chapter is another good place to start.

Either way, you should do as many practice problems as you can!

Once you know where your understanding is weak, you can find video explanations at the Kahn Academy website. You will probably find the topic you are looking for under either Algebra or Arithmetic and pre-algebra.

Khan Academy will give you a review problem after every couple of videos, but don't stop there! Once you better understand the material, do as many practice problems as you can!

During your entire review, feel free to come to office hours and ask me questions about course or review material. I would be happy to answer any questions, or to point you to things I think are worth focusing on.
